Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty on That Brutal Misty Reveal
An enjoyable addition to Yellowjackets for season two has been the arrival of Elijah Wood’s Walter. The oddball citizen detective has served as the perfect foil to Christina Ricci’s Misty in the present-day timeline of the Showtime series. As is exemplified by the game of Two Truths and a Lie that he insists Misty play while the pair road trip together in hopes of saving her friend Natalie (Juliette Lewis). However, they believe that they were abducted by the cult. That led by fellow plane crash survivor Lottie (Simone Kessell).
When playing the game, Walter breaks the rules by listing three truths. “Now you know a little more about me,” he says, after sharing that he owned an artisanal goat cheese business with a goat named Billy. That there’s a “non-zero chance” Barry Manilow is his biological father and that he has $175,000 worth of stock in Taco Bell, despite never visiting the chain restaurant. When Misty begrudgingly takes her turn, she says she doesn’t like monkeys. She believes the wrong questions are being asked about the moon landing. Also, never gets to say her third option because they finally come across the location of Lottie’s compound. They’ve been searching for the past couple of episodes.
If Misty had given her third option, she could have said that she murdered her best friend — and she might not have been telling a lie.
Christina Riccy thinks about her ‘Yellowjackets’ character Misty
Christina Ricci will be the first to tell you she doesn’t like her terrifying “Yellowjackets” character, er Misty Quigley.
“y enjoy playing characters that don’t follow the sort of normal social constraints that we do,” she adds. “And the freedom of playing someone who’s not bound by any sort of morality but her own. So, stuff is really fun. And I like playing characters that do not express their emotions in a typical way.”
However, Ricci, who’s been acting since her film debut at age 9 in “Mermaids” alongside Cher. She says she often thinks she knows where the writers will go with Misty on the series. Also, it often leads in an unexpected direction instead.
So, her process for playing someone so complicated is to take all the things she does know about Misty. Like her “obsessive need to try to connect with people and make friends”. Even her “30 years of constant rejection” and asking what turns a person into.
Currently filming Season 2, Ricci’s own experience on set is different from the one she had during durinherhe freshman season. So, when she was pregnant with her now nine-month-old daughter, Cleo, she hid it on camera with baggy sweaters and overalls.
