Recently surfaced audio from a 2015 police interrogation reveals rapper Young Thug addressing questions about his alleged Bloods gang affiliation in relation to a Lil Wayne tour bus shooting. In the clip, a detective asks about Thug’s ties, mentioning Lil Wayne and Birdman, to which Thug responds with confusion, saying, “A Blood?!” He insists that references to gang affiliation in his music are purely for “entertainment” purposes.
The detective points out lyrics where Thug references the Bloods, but the rapper dismisses it with a chuckle, emphasizing, “Man, that is entertainment, man!”
In another leaked clip, Thug is questioned about the meaning behind his lyrics: “No homo, we smoke dicks.” Thugger explains, “The lyric was: ‘No homo, we smoke dicks,’ meaning the blunt that we smoke are big. The blunts that we’re smoking are not regular sized blunts. That’s the meaning of it.”

These audio clips surface as the YSL RICO trial, related to the Lil Wayne tour bus shooting, is set to begin after securing a jury. The trial involves Jimmy Winfrey, aka Peewee Roscoe, who was implicated in the shooting and had ties to Young Slime Life (YSL), allegedly in a feud with Lil Wayne at the time.

In 2018, Winfrey’s sentencing for the serious assault charge was reversed; however, the YSL RICO trial is still ongoing. Despite not being prosecuted, Young Thug and Birdman were named as co-conspirators in the tour bus shooting.
A court has decided that Thug’s lyrics may be admitted into evidence in the RICO lawsuit. The jury selection process took over a year, and the trial is scheduled to start on November 27. Seven Black women, two White women, two Black men, and one White man make up the jury.
Young Thug has been behind bars since May 2022 and has been denied bond multiple times. The trial will provide a resolution to the legal proceedings surrounding the Lil Wayne tour bus shooting and Young Thug’s alleged involvement.
