We have been talking about how the cost of travel to the Caribbean may be cheap. But how cheap is your cheap? Although it is a subjective matter, we will try to talk about Caribbean travel costs in sections.
1. Accommodation
There aren’t many hostels or campgrounds that you may find in the Caribbean Sea. However, most islands don’t cater to budget travellers as well. However, it doesn’t mean you won’t find anything cost-effective at all. All you have to do is be strategic about it. There are ways in which you can save some money.
- A dorm with eight beds or more may cost $20.
- You can also choose to rely on a room with four or more beds. It will cost around $30.
Both these options are suitable if you are traveling with a group of friends. However, if you are with your partner, you may want to go for an ensuite bathroom with a small twin bed. It will cost around $40 for one day.
Furthermore, you can choose to rely on Airbnb in the Caribbean seas. In Aruba, the shared accommodation will start at $34. Whereas you may need to splurge around $40 per night for a private room. The average cost for renting a whole apartment is around $125 for one day.
2. Food
Many hotels and resorts around the Caribbean Island will provide food to their guests. They offer free breakfasts for guests. However, if you want to go around hotspots of travellers to sneak in bagel coffee in a cafe, you may need to spend an average of $4. Although, you can settle for the ham-and-cheese sandwich at the mall at just $3.
The cheapest meal around the islands was however the small sandwich at $8. And if you want to indulge in tropical fruit, you need to spend an average of $1-2 USD. If it is steak and fish you want, an average of $20 will have to be spent. While we are at it, you have to avoid restaurants near cruise ports and resorts. Those are the opposite of cheap Caribbean trips.
3. Activities
Even on a tight budget, you will have plenty of things to do in the seas. Take the museum visit or the distillery tours for example. The all-inclusive cost of the tour may cost you $30. The adventure tours will cost more money though. For example, the snorkeling tours start from $60.
Hence, the more features you add, the more expensive it will get. If it is the ATV or off-roading tours you want, it will start at about $100 per day. What about hoping the Caribbean Island hopping? It will cost an average of $175 per day.
Ending note
The cost of traveling through the Caribbean seas will vary greatly on multiple things. The location, the activities, foods, and accommodation. So, you can find islands to fit your budget. Moreover, you need to design the whole trip strategically to make your dream of a cheap Caribbean trip come true.
