1. Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya is located about 80 km north of Bangkok and makes for a great day trip. Once the capital city of Siam (the former name for Thailand) from 1350 until 1767, Ayutthaya is now known as one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. The city gives you an insight into what life was like during ancient times with its beautiful temples, palaces and monasteries surrounded by canals.

Visit some of the main attractions such as Wat Phra Si Sanphet or Wat Yai Chai Mongkol for stunning views or take a boat ride on the Chao Phraya River for an adventurous experience.

2. Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi is a small town located about 130 km west of Bangkok, known mainly for its famous bridge over the Kwai River and World War II memorials. Spend half a day exploring these monuments such as the JEATH War Museum or take a train ride over the Kwai Noi River Bridge – both offering great historical insight into WWII events that happened in Thailand during the 1940s.

You can also visit Death Railway Cemetery or take a boat ride along River Kwai – perfect for those seeking more adventurous activities. 

3. Hua Hin

If you’re looking for beach vibes during your stay in Thailand, then Hua Hin is your go-to spot! Located about 200km south of Bangkok, Hua Hin offers white sandy beaches and picturesque sunsets perfect for relaxation after long days spent sightseeing around the city.

While there make sure to visit Khao Takiab – a popular beachside attraction with a nearby temple offering stunning views over the Gulf of Thailand – or check out Cicada Market – a weekend market full of delicious street food, souvenirs and local artworks – perfect place if you want unique souvenirs from your trip! 

4. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market 

This colourful market, located about 100 km west of Bangkok, is a must-see for anyone interested in Thai culture. Visitors can take a boat ride through the market and buy goods from vendors who sell everything from fruits and vegetables to souvenirs and clothing. 

5. Khao Yai National Park

This park, located about 200 km northeast of Bangkok, is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, bears, and over 300 species of birds. Visitors can take a safari tour, hike to the park’s many waterfalls, or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery.

6. Pattaya

Pattaya

This beach town, located about 150 km southeast of Bangkok, is known for its nightlife, but there are also many other activities to enjoy, such as water sports, golf, and elephant trekking.

7. Koh Samet

This island, located about 200 km southeast of Bangkok, is known for its beautiful beaches and clear waters. Visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkelling, and diving, as well as taking boat trips to nearby islands.

8. Amphawa Floating Market

Amphawa Floating Market

This market, located about 80 km west of Bangkok, is a great place to buy traditional Thai food and souvenirs. Visitors can also take a boat tour of the nearby canals and visit the Wat Bang Kung temple.

9. Lopburi

This town, located about 150 km north of Bangkok, is known for its monkey population. Visitors can visit the Khmer-style Prang Sam Yod temple and the Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat, which are both home to large groups of monkeys.

10. Suphan Buri

Suphan Buri

This province, located about 150 km northwest of Bangkok, is known for its beautiful temples, including Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat and Wat Phra Non. Visitors can also take a boat tour of the SuphanBuri River, which runs through the heart of the province.
