How does the house centipede hunt?

The house centipedes are well known to kill the pests that are commonly found in houses. They feed on moths, flies, roaches, termites, and silverfish. Also, to hunt these pests, the centipede uses the two legs near its head. This part has venom. Then with the other legs, it scoops its prey and wraps it with its legs. This hunting technique is called lassoing.

So in this way, it kills the bugs that you do not want around your house. They are not like spiders that make webs to catch their prey. Also, they do not eat your wood and do not carry diseases like the other pests. That is why the centipedes are quite harmless to humans. But you may not want the centipede to be around your house. It does not look good to have this fifteen-legged friend visit you very often. Therefore, how to get rid of them?

How to remove centipedes from your home?

There are some tricks you can follow to send the centipedes back to where they came from. They come to your house for a specific purpose, and that is to feed on the insects. So you can follow the steps below to get rid of them first.

  • You can get rid of the pests in your home by making sure there is no extra moisture in your bathroom. For this, you can make use of a dehumidifier or a fan. Therefore, if your bathroom is at the correct temperature, it will discourage the pests from entering it through the drain or other crevices. Without these insects, your home may not be a good hunting ground for the centipede.
  • Then you can try sealing off any cracks and crevices in your home where the pests might enter. So using cement or other things, you can seal the corners in your kitchen, bathroom, and other places in your homes. Also, if the cracks are sealed, the pests may not be able to lay eggs and multiply.
  • Next, clear your house of any debris that may cause moisture to develop in your home. These are the areas where the pests might choose to lay eggs and multiply.

Conclusion

These are some of the steps that will help you to get rid of centipedes and other household pests from becoming a nuisance to you. Keep your house moisture-free and tidy and say bye-bye to the fifteen-legged creature.
