In October 2022, Shanquella Robinson embarked on a vacation to Cabo San Lucas with six friends, only for her life to be tragically cut short less than 24 hours after her arrival. The circumstances surrounding her death remain shrouded in mystery, with conflicting reports and disturbing revelations emerging.
A concierge assigned to the villa where Shanquella and her friends stayed, Suni Jehseel Popoca Millan, disclosed a disturbing detail to authorities. After Shanquella was pronounced dead, her friends reportedly responded with laughter and a request to be taken to dinner. According to Atlanta Black Star Popoca Millan stated, “I left that area and stayed outside to give them space to grieve; minutes later, I heard laughter.“
A video circulating on social media depicts Shanquella in a vulnerable state, naked, and subjected to a violent attack by a woman identified as Daejahnae Jackson. Reports suggest that the fight was recorded by another individual, urging Shanquella to fight back. Shanquella’s friends initially claimed she died from alcohol poisoning, concealing the severe injuries she sustained during the assault.
Conflicting autopsy reports further complicate the situation. Mexican officials concluded that Shanquella’s death resulted from severe injuries to her spinal cord and neck, labeling it femicide. However, a U.S. autopsy contradicted these findings, declaring the cause of death undetermined and revealing no spinal cord injuries. Despite the disturbing video evidence, U.S. prosecutors have declined to pursue criminal charges.
Shanquella’s family is now determined to seek justice through legal action. A civil lawsuit is in the works against the six friends who were present during the vacation. Family lawyer Sue-Ann Robinson revealed that the lawsuit aims to hold those responsible accountable, particularly the three individuals who allegedly withheld crucial information about the assault.
The family’s quest for justice extends beyond legal action. In March 2023, they called upon the FBI and the White House to intervene, emphasizing the need for arrests and convictions for all involved, referred to as the Cabo Six. Despite the pain and heartbreak, Shanquella’s family remains motivated by her legacy to continue pursuing justice for their beloved daughter. The unsettling details of this case underscore the complexities surrounding investigations into mysterious deaths, leaving lingering questions and a family’s unwavering determination for closure.
