Nail art has exploded lately. The simple block colors are still there, but so many of us prefer using our nails as a canvas to express ourselves. The glazed donuts took over
Undoubtedly, yes. Hailey Bieber’s nails were the perfect storm of a new spin on a classic look that creates virality. There were plenty of new trends that were wilder and crazier, as sites like nailsalon.pro point out, but there was something subtle and effortless about the glazed donut look that meant everyone wanted to try it.
The offshoots
And it started a lot of other trends. The “Barely there” nails came along that featured a simple color so close to your own it might as well not be there. But, as a part of the “clean girl” look we’re still partially sporting, it made sense.
And, of course, the French tip was back, but it came with its own trends, like coloured tips, words for tips, patterned tips, and the one most clearly inspired by the glazed donut trend: the ombre tips. Even that got taken further with the idea of ombre nails taking off in all directions and in all shades.
But the trend that’s really taken off due to Hailey’s glazed donut nails is the pearl nails look. They might sound the same, and they’re definitely similar, but while the glazed donut is a little transparent, showing the nail underneath, the pearls are more solid and, therefore, a little less subtle.

Euphoria nails
The hit TV show Euphoria inspired a lot of fashion trends. There was an alluring mix of retro and futuristic fashion choices going on throughout that TV show, where Rue was the only one that looked like a typical teenager in order to make the point that her life was falling apart.
A big part of these fashion trends was the iconic nail trends. Who can forget Maddy banging on the bathroom door at a party with the bottom of her hands because she couldn’t make a fist for the long square nails in the way?
There are plenty of examples, but our favorite is the “amoeba nails” made for star Hunter Schafer that perfectly encapsulate the chaotic colors and patterns of the show.
Julia Fox’s chrome nails
Julia Fox has been in the spotlight a lot this year when it comes to her fashion choices, mainly due to the fact that they would get her arrested if she wore them in a conservative town, but her nails are something you can take inspiration from without giving Grandma a heart attack.
In an Instagram post by @byjuanalvear, the Uncut Gems muse was seen sporting sculpted nails in a flashy chrome color. It hasn’t yet had its moment, but silver is very fashionable in winter, evoking both glamor and the icy temperatures, so maybe it has time to take off.
