Black humor. Macabre, horror, bloodcurdling jokes. Jokes about death, about tragic events. Black – meaning ending with death and mourning. Because the color black is in most countries of the world a symbol of sadness and death.
Gruesome jokes
Even scientists have studied who likes dark humor (czarny humor) and why. This type of humor is liked by intelligent people with a higher IQ. Well, let’s say people who are more intelligent than average. It’s the same with abstract jokes that more intelligent people like.
Another theme is the impact of black humor in relation to the circumstances. People who have experienced a tragedy have recently lost a loved one – they do not react well to any manifestations of black humor. Psychologically, this is justified and understandable. Pain is too fresh, so they can often react aggressively to people telling gruesome jokes around them.
Interestingly, if not for the death of a loved one, it could turn out that the same person really likes dark humor. But not right now, not this part of my life.
Why we like horror movies
Horror movies (films, books, drawings, other works) telling about terrible events and death – are classified as … entertainment. It turns out that people really like to be scared (and this has also been scientifically studied). Provided that at the same time he knows that nothing threatens him then. The ominous events are beyond him, they do not concern him, only the heroes of the film or book.
Many people like and even love movies about terrible death, about the dismemberment of human corpses. Disaster movies also have a lot of fans. Let us repeat, we are happy to watch all the macabre, if we are aware that it is not the real world that directly concerns us. Otherwise, we would certainly not want to participate in such events, especially as a victim.
Horror and fun horror movies
What is the difference between dark humor in horror movies and classic horror movies? For example movies? Our brain perceives gruesome scenes from a movie differently when it knows that it’s a terrible situation, but at the same time comical. In other words, when the brain knows that in a scary movie scene, someone bad is doing harm to another human being. This man suffers, he dies.
Horror producers do this on purpose. They want the viewers watching the movie to be terrified or have a good time. If they want to deliver dark humor to the audience, they need to know that the scene is scary, but at the same time not serious. They are supposed to be scared, but at the same time smile. Accept with reserve what they see in the video.
Black humor and jokes
The same principle applies to verbal jokes that we tell other people. Or in humorous drawings created by caricaturists. But here, every recipient of such a joke always knows in advance that although the joke will be gruesome, this one will definitely be a joke. You don’t like such jokes and drawings? Maybe that means you’re a low IQ person?
Even if you don’t like it and you protest – you already know that scientists have studied it and are unlikely to be wrong.
