When Can You Expect GTA 6?

Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 is in “active development.” In fact, according to a Kotaku report, this “new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series” was in early development as of April 2020. Kotaku’s report claimed this new installment is planned to be a “moderately sized release” (so, probably still pretty big), which will be “expanded with regular updates over time.” So, the game may be further along in development than we expected.
Other sources reveal that GTA 6 is expected to release between April 2013 and the end of March 2024. According to them, Take Two’s 10-K SEC filing from 2020 shows that the company expects to spend $89 million on marketing between April 2023 and the end of March 2024 – that’s a huge spike and, as the report points out, more than half the marketing budget expected for any other fiscal year over the next decade
This led industry analyst Jeff Cohen to predict this spike because GTA 6 is expected to release within this period. If this prediction is correct, we hope GTA 6 releases sometime between April 2023 and March 2024. Originally this spike was expected to take place in the fiscal year 2023; however, it’s been pushed back to 2024. If it is GTA 6 that has caused this spike, this would suggest that a delay has occurred.
Are There Possibilities For The Release To Delay?
This is one of the things none of the fans of GTA would want, right? Well, all of us are praying that there is not any delay. However, some of the predictions suggest a slight possibility. As you know, Rockstar Games has confirmed it’s working on a new GTA. So it seems likely that the spike is because of this new title. It could put GTA 6’s release date between April 2023 and March 2024.
In fact, this 2024 spike almost lines up with leaker Tom Henderson’s GTA 6 release date prediction. Moreover, the notable leaker, primarily known for his (mainly) accurate leaks on Battlefield and Call of Duty, posted a video sharing a bunch of alleged GTA 6 details. In the video, Henderson predicts that GTA 6 isn’t going to release until between 2024 and 2025, based on his sources.
According to Henderson, the biggest reason is that Rockstar Games has been focusing heavily on “employee wellbeing,” with the developer aiming to avoid a crunch culture. Furthermore, Henderson also claimed that Rockstar didn’t want to announce the game until it was confident that they would meet the release dates. This is primarily to avoid delays; however, he wanted to do so without making employees work extremely long hours to meet deadlines.
In addition, Henderson claims that GTA 6 will only release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Given the current PS5 and Xbox Series X shortages, Rockstar Games is apparently waiting for a “big enough market” for these consoles. The third reason can be because of the popularity of GTA 5. Rockstar Games might want to delay their release of GTA 6 because the predecessor is still quite successful.
Where Can You Watch The GTA 6 Trailer?
As of now, Rockstar Games did not share the trailer for this popular game. However, we can assume they are approaching this new version differently than the previous ones. Previously during the release of GTA 5, they had always shared the announcement with a trailer.
However, this time things are different. The devs did not tease an announcement nor announce the game with a trailer; instead, it simply included the announcement as a part of a community post. So it is very difficult to predict what they are up to in this new version.
Where & Where Will GTA Be Set?
There are plenty of rumors regarding where GTA 6 will be set. However, Rockstar Games has not confirmed anything yet. Even though there have not yet been any concrete reports, it’s hard to nail down which rumors hold water. Needless to say, all of them are pointing towards GTA 6’s map being massive.
In fact, one of the biggest Grand Theft Auto 6 setting rumors has come from the YouTube channel The Know. They claimed that GTA 6 is being developed under the code name Project Americas. The reason for this code name is apparently because players will be able to fly between the US and South America in the game. However, the majority of the action will take place in the former.
