Courtney B. Vance has joined the Lilo & Stitch remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vance was cast as Cobra Bubbles, a former CIA agent turned social worker. The original film’s plot is about an eccentric young girl named Lilo in the care of her older sister. She befriends an alien designed for destruction, Stitch. Cobra Bubbles is a figure of fear to Lilo’s sister Nani. She is trying to convince him she is fair to care for Lilo.
Vance will work alongside Maia Kealoha (Lilo), Sydney Agudong (Nani), Kahiau Machado (David, Nani’s love interest), Zach Galifianakis, and Billy Magnussen in Dean Fleischer Camp’s movie.

Per Deadline, Vance has joined the cast of the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch remake in the role of Cobra Bubbles. A former CIA agent turned social worker. Ving Rhames originally voiced the character in the original 2002 animated film. As well as in various TV projects. Terrence C. Carson, Kevin Michael Richardson and Richard Epcar have also voiced the character. However, we know Vance for his Primetime Emmy Award-winning performance as Johnnie Cochran in The People v. O.J. Simpson. So, he wrote American Crime Story, as well as for his roles in Lovecraft Country, State of Affairs and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Who is Cobra Bubbles?
Cobra Bubbles is initially one of the antagonists of the film. Although he never demonstrates any true villainy in the course of the plot. He is a former CIA agent who has become a social worker. Also, he has been assigned to Nani’s house to determine his suitability to be the guardian of Lilo, his little sister.
However, he has constant run-ins with Nani, David, Lilo and Stitch eventually decides to remove Lilo from a home which he feels. So, due to a series of bad luck and unfortunate timing – is unsafe for a young girl. However, when the aliens Jumba and Pleakley captured Lilo, Cobra involved himself in her rescue. And ultimately became a close friend of the family.
Therefore, joining Vance in the cast of the movie is Sydney Elizabeth Agudong as Nani. Lilo’s sister and newcomer Kahiau Machado as David Kawena, Nani’s love interest. Previous casting includes newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Zach Galifianakis, and Billy Magnussen.
Lilo & Stitch Remake Faces Major Backlash
Courtney B. Vance is joining Lilo & Stitch as Cobra Bubbles at an interesting time. Disney is facing backlash for hiring the Kauai-born newcomer Agudong as Nani. However, some feel the actress is too light-skinned and that a Native Hawaiian should play the character. So, the film also faced another hurdle this past Sunday night. A fire on the movie set destroyed a $200,000 trailer and costumes of the movie. Also, police have ruled it an arson, though they mentioned no suspect or motive.

Therefore, a young Hawaiian girl, her sister Nani raised her, after the untimely death of their parents. Struggling to make friends and connect with those around her, Lilo ends up befriending Stitch. However, an unauthorised alien experiment with dog-like tendencies crashlands on Earth after escaping captivity. The pair become best friends and attempt to ward off the aliens trying to recapture Stitch.
