Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series conceived by Koyoharu Gotouge. We see Tanjiro, a young teenage boy who goes all out to become a demon slayer after he finds his family brutally murdered. In fact, his sister Nezuko is the sole survivor, and she is shackled in the chains of a curse. A strange implacable power has turned her into a demon. However, Nezuko still intensely manifests signs of humanity in fragments.
Why Nezuko is so vital as a character…
Thus, Nezuko is the only one whom Tanjiro could shore against the ruins. Indeed, the anime tosses an important question: what it is to be a human, in the figure of Nezuko. Nezuko is a demon but she is the most human of all. Thus, Nezuko inhabits the space between a demon and a human. The world of this anime is feverish and thoroughly compelling. Tanjiro Kamado’s sister Nezuko is the most sensitive of all. Indeed, she is the sweetest character across the anime. Indeed, she doesn’t succumb to the curse and projects human emotions and thoughts. In fact, she is the reason why Tanjiro cannot entirely hate the demons and dwell in the grey zone of morality.

Plurality of meanings
The anime therefore poses complex and simple, densely simple, questions about morality.. In the intriguing Demon Slayer episodes we see each demon having a human past. Gotouge thus always flings us in the in-between space. Indeed, the series is most compelling because of the multiplicity of emotions and meanings that it evokes. The inconclusivity is compelling. Indeed, a single conclusion always eludes us and that’s where lies the charm of Demon Slayer.
Each demon, during the moment of its death, recalls their painful human past that was cut short by fate. Indeed, Rui is the compelling demon. A little boy. He is deeply human. Rui too makes us tremble in the grey space of the in-between. True, Tanjiro kills the demons to protect himself and his sister and other demon slayers. Nonetheless, he always pays them heartfelt respect during their last moments as they disappear and crumble into ashes and nothingness..
Demon Slayer season 3
Demon Slayer season 3 is ushering in on April 2023. Fans are leaping in excitement. Indeed, the series induces an adrenaline rush. The anime is indeed so precious because it shows life stripped to nakedness. We confront our Soul. Indeed, we find ourselves privately answering our own personal questions and working out life’s kafkaesque mathematics as the anime travels on…It’s insane. The anime draws from archetypal themes and motifs. Indeed, it also shows the power and intensity of Memory.
Deathlessness of Memory
Nezuko, turned into a demon, still throbs with the memory of her childhood, her past. She retains enough memory to restrain herself from consuming blood like other demons. Instead, she sleeps for prolonged hours, sometimes even days, to restore herself.

Zenitsu, favourite of all
The anime also explores the character of an apparent weakling called Zenitsu. Zenitsu is hysterically paranoid in the face of any challenge. However, he magically summons strength from the well of his Being and successfully slays the demons. Indeed, Zenitsu is a treat to watch. The strongest of all and the childish of all .. he is deeply funny and deeply solemn at the same time.
