Applying for UK Schools

Students are currently busy preparing their applications. In order to ensure that they can study abroad smoothly, students generally choose multiple universities as their application targets. At the same time, they must also take into account many factors such as the major to apply for, the ranking of the institution, employment prospects, geographical location, and tuition fees.

So, here comes the question, how many schools should we choose when applying for UK institutions? How should we choose the schools to apply to?

How many schools should we choose when applying for UK institutions?

The suitable number of universities to apply for for each person is actually different, but for most friends, the ideal number of universities to apply for is 8 to 10. How did this range come about?

When students apply to British institutions, the matching schools and majors are actually limited. It takes time and application fees to apply. It’s okay to apply to 5 or 6 schools, but if you apply to more than 10 schools, it will add up to a lot of money. After years of experience, we have concluded that 8-10 universities are a relatively good range for students to apply for.

If you have fewer than 8 colleges to apply to in your college application list, make sure you have at least 5-6. In order to have more options in the final process of the college application, the college application list must include a list of colleges with different “selectivity” and “tuition fee” (if tuition fee is an issue). Fewer than 6, and your application will not fully cover these series, or reduce your chances of being admitted.

How should these schools be chosen?

Going to study in the UK and applying to 8-10 universities, how should I choose these schools?

1. To apply for a UK university, it is recommended to apply for 3 “dream schools”.

You can choose 3 dream schools. These schools usually have high standards for selecting students, such as University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and some other excellent UK universities for international students.

Your grades and points may not be enough to meet the standard, and when you study it carefully, you will find that it is not impossible to apply successfully, but it will be a long-term goal.

2. To apply for a UK university, it is recommended to apply for 3 “matching” schools.

“Matching schools” are schools whose entry requirements match your academic and test scores. You’ll feel like you’re a good fit to apply to these schools and, for the most part, will get accepted.

It’s important to keep in mind, however, that a so-called school match doesn’t mean you’ll be accepted. The success of admission will be affected by many factors, which is also the reason why many applicants miss the school.

3. To apply for a UK university, it is recommended to apply for 2 “safe” schools.

Your academic performance and test scores are basically slightly higher than the average grade of these universities. Be aware that schools with high selection criteria are not “safe” schools for you, even if your scores are above average. Only by choosing some schools with high admission rate and relatively low standards can they become the first choice of “safe” schools.
