However, it is important to know how to delete incognito history on phone to make sure maximum privacy and prevent any potential issues. In this article, we will talk about other ways to delete incognito history on mobile devices and Windows systems.

Web browsers typically save browsing history. This includes incognito history, to improve user experience and gives quick access to previously visited websites. However, this data can also be accessed by third-party organizations for various purposes.

This includes tracking users’ online activities. Additionally, storing excessive browsing history can consume device storage and slow down performance. Therefore, it is recommended to delete incognito history even when using private browsing mode.

Incognito mode is also known as private browsing or in-private mode. This prevents your smartphone or device from remembering your browsing history. It also clears temporary data. This makes sure that your actions are concealed from anyone who may use your device in the future.

It’s important to note that going incognito does not completely hide your identity and online activities. It prevents others from seeing your browsing activity, tab background, or search terms. However, it does not make you completely private on the internet.

To delete incognito history on Windows systems, you can follow these steps for popular web browsers:

  • Chrome: Launch Chrome, copy and paste “chrome:/settings/content/cookies” into the address bar, and press Enter. Enable the option to “Keep local data only until you quit your browser” and click the Done button.
  • Firefox: Open Firefox, click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines), select Options, go to the Privacy & Security tab, scroll down to the History section, and click on the “Clear History” button.
  • Internet Explorer: Open Internet Explorer, click on the gear icon (Tools), select Safety, and choose “Delete browsing history.” Check the box next to “Preserve Favorites website data” if desired and click the Delete button.
  • Microsoft Edge: Launch Microsoft Edge, click on the menu icon (three horizontal dots), select Settings, go to the Privacy, search, and services tab, click on the “Choose what to clear” button under the Clear browsing data section, select the desired data types, and click the Clear button.
  • Opera: Open Opera, click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines), select Settings, go to the Privacy & Security tab, scroll down to the Privacy section, and click on the “Clear browsing data” button.

On Android phones, Chrome is a popular browser. To delete incognito history on an Android phone:

  • Chrome app needs to be launched on your Android phone.
  • Tap on the menu icon (three vertical dots) and select History.
  • Select the checkboxes right beside the data types you want to delete. This includes browsing history.
  • Choose a suitable timestamp from the options list.
  • Press the Clear Data button to delete the selected data types.

Apart from the browser history, you can also consider clearing the DNS cache to remove any traces of visited websites. To clear the DNS cache:

  • Open the command dialogue box by searching for “Command Prompt” in the search box and selecting the “Run as administrator” option.
  • Type the command “ipconfig /displaydns” to view the DNS cache history.
  • You can now see detailed information about recently visited websites that may not appear in the browsing history.
  • To clear the DNS cache, type the command “ipconfig /flushdns” in the command prompt.
  • This will clear the DNS entries, making sure that no one can view the web pages you’ve visited.
