There will be a brand new YouTube soon. The world’s most popular video-sharing site is revamping its platform with a variety of new options for both functionality and design. New features include the ability to zoom in and out as well as search more precisely. The most noticeable change, though, is Ambient Mode, which automatically modifies the app’s backdrop colour to match the currently playing movie.
But what exactly is this enigmatic “Ambient Mode,” and how can you utilise it on your iPhone or iPad? Continue reading to find out more.
What exactly is YouTube’s Ambient Mode?
When the Ambient Mode is enabled, the current video’s colours will be reflected in the interface’s background. In this setting, a special lighting effect is applied to make the movie more immersive.
The functionality will be supported by the app and website, but only in Dark mode, and it will operate on both Android and iOS. To utilise the features, users must first switch to YouTube’s dark style.
“Ambient mode creates a subtle impact by altering the colour scheme of the app’s background to complement the video.” “We were inspired by the light that screens put out in a darkened room and wanted to mimic the aesthetic so viewers were drawn directly into the content, and the video takes even greater prominence on our watch page,” YouTube said in a statement.
How can you turn on and off the ambient setting?
Ambient mode is easily accessible on both Android and iOS smartphones. Simply select your profile image while logged in to YouTube. Then, go to the Appearance menu and select “Dark theme.”
By selecting Ambience Mode from the options menu, you can disable the option. You can turn it off globally or for individual videos.
The next update will include a new look for the ‘Subscribe’ button as well as a cleaner layout. The button is undergoing changes that will transform it from its original white and red colour scheme to a pill-shaped button with black writing. According to YouTube, the new design will make the button easier to find.
Furthermore, the pinch-to-zoom feature, which was previously available exclusively to Premium subscribers, is now available to all users. With the long-awaited functionality, users will be able to zoom in and out of videos.
Users may rapidly travel to a specific time and place in a video using the new ‘exact searching’ option by swiping or dragging the movie to the top, where a row of thumbnails will display. The function will be available via both the website and the mobile application.
Is ambient mode by default?
The operating system will enter Ambient Mode after 10 minutes of inactivity. The operating system will enter Energy Saver mode and turn off the display after an additional period of inactivity (determined by the device’s Energy Saver setting).
However, an important distinction is that the Ambient Mode consumes less energy. This function uses between 40 and 50 per cent of the typical amount of energy. This represents roughly 30% of Art Mode.
