Following criticism for his remarks about Keanu Reeves, Matthew Perry has promised to remove them from future editions of his memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” Following backlash for his book, in which he disparaged Reeves, the “Friends” star apologised, asking why Reeves “still walks among us” when “talented” actors and “original thinkers” such as River Phoenix and Chris Farley had died.
Matthew Perry has taken immediate action, removing all references to Reeves. Perry announced on Saturday at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books that Reeves’ name would be removed from future printings of “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.”
Matthew Perry Apologised Publically
Perry said at the festival, “It was a mean thing to do.” I publicly apologised to this man. He explained that “I chose his name because we share a street.” His name will be removed from future editions of the book.
Perry also stated that he intends to apologise to Reeves in person, but has yet to do so. I’ll make amends if I ever see him again. “I’m just being stupid,” Perry explained.
Despite the fact that the Reeves references in “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” were meant as a tribute to Phoenix and Farley, the film’s execution was widely panned. According to Perry, “the list of geniuses who were ahead of their time is too long to detail here; suffice it to say, near the top of any such list should be my costar in ‘A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,’ River Phoenix.”

Statements
“River was a beautiful man, inside and out — far too beautiful for this world, it turned out,” Perry writes. Even the best performers fall short of expectations on a regular basis. What purpose does Keanu Reeves serve if risk-takers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger perish? Despite the fact that River was a better actor than I was, I was the funnier of the two of us. In retrospect, I believe I more than held my own in the scenes we shared.
When confronted with the passage in October, Perry quickly apologised, saying, “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu.” I made the error of selecting a name at random. Please accept my apologies if I have offended you. “I should have just used my given name.”
