Putting together an event is just the start. All your work will be for nothing if you don’t sell tickets to it. That is why we put together a quick guide on how to sell tickets easily and fast!
1. Pick A Ticketing Platform
The first step is to pick a ticketing platform that you feel meets all your ticketing needs. A ticketing platform gives you all the necessary tools to manage your event, like:
- Scannable QR codes
- Analytics
- Ticket creation
- Calendars
There is a boatload of ticketing platforms for you to choose from. The most common is Ticketmaster, although their platform can be quite tricky for some people and not meet small business needs. We suggest taking the time to look at all your options and their fees before choosing a platform.
2. Pick A Merchant Account
In order to process your customer’s payments, you are going to need a merchant account. They are separate from the ticketing platform and have their own set of fees associated with them. Essentially, a merchant is like a type of bank account that allows you to accept purchases via credit cards, debit cards, google pay, etc.
The most commonly used merchant accounts in the U.S. are Stripe, Square, and PayPal. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, so be sure to do your homework before picking one.
3. Promote Your Tickets Online

Once everything is set up, you will need to build a website to have your ticketing widget on. A well-built website that is SEO friendly is preferable since you want people to be able to easily find your website and be able to navigate it to buy the tickets. The harder your website is to find, the fewer tickets you will sell.
4. Promote Through Social Media
Choose the social media platforms that your target audience uses most. Be sure to post consistently and interact with your followers so that you continue to show up on their feed and remind them to attend your event!
5. Consider Other Marketing Technique As Well
You can also sell tickets using email marketing, google ads, influencers, and believe it or not, podcasts! The more channels you promote your tickets through, the more tickets you will sell. Make sure you are focusing your time on channels that your target audience is on though.
