About Larry

Larry is one of the most infamous gangsters that America has ever had. Now in his 71st year, Larry was accused of murdering a drug dealer in 1973. In fact, his link with the criminal world began at the mere age of 13 years. He was involved in a case of theft and mugging at that young age. 

However, with time, he turned towards assaults and shootings. He also founded the Gangster Disciples, a criminal organisation. However, in spite of his crimes, he has become a hot topic among various rappers. In fact, in 2021, Drake and Ye organized a benefit concert in order to free him.

The Murder

We know that Larry has also charges of murder labelled against him. His victim was another drug dealer named William Young. Young was who was popular as Pooky the drug dealer. On the 26th of February, 1973, William was abducted. Later that day, he was shot to death near 68th Street.

Investigations brought out the fact that a few days earlier some drugs and money was stolen from the gang and Hoover was one of the suspects in that case. Further investigations showed that Hoover was the one who ordered the murder. As a result, a month later, the police arrested  Hoover and the killer and the court handed down their imprisonment sentences. 

Gangster Disciples

There was an organisation by the name of the Black Disciples. David Barksdale was its head. After David’s death, Larry became the head of the  Black Gangster Disciples Nation. This gang controlled the Southern side of Chicago in the 70s. Under Hoover, this organisation helped the formation of Folk Nations including various other gangs. 

However, in the late 80s, this organisation turned hostile to other allies and changed its name to “Gangster Disciples”. The gang killed numerous people. Even after Larry was in jail, he controlled the group from his prison cell. The prosecutors found that out and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Though Hoover claimed innocence, teh court denied his claims.

The United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility in Florence, Colorado is the current address of Hoover, where he serves six life sentences.
