Jeremy Renner, the “Hawkeye” actor, shared a handwritten note from his nephew recognising his uncle’s notable accomplishments, including surviving a brutal snowplough accident on New Year’s Day this year.
“I am very fortunate because my uncle is Hawk-eye (one of the Avengers),” the child wrote in a letter Renner shared on Instagram Stories on Wednesday. “It’s also a huge blessing that my uncle survived his accident,” she says.
“I adore my little boy, and God bless you, Auggie,” the action star continued. The 52-year-old actor then captioned a photo of two stuffed sloths “my inner feelings.”
Auggie is unlikely to be the adult nephew who was crushed by a snowplough while driving a truck in the snow near the actor’s Reno home.
Here is what exactly happened!

The “Avengers” actor used his PistenBully snowplough to clear snow from his truck, which was being driven by a family member. According to the sheriff’s report, the family member in question was his adult nephew. Renner told investigators that after he let go of the snowplough, it started sliding and rolling down the slope. He jumped out of the car without using the emergency brake, only to realise later that it was heading straight for his nephew.
He underwent surgery and spent two weeks in the hospital with “more than 30” broken bones. Since then, the “Mission: Impossible” star has provided health updates and teased his return, as well as upcoming projects, such as his new Disney+ makeover docuseries “Reservations”. It was shot prior to the snowplough accident. His nephew’s note was the most recent in a series of encouraging messages.
