Jobs for Parents

Having a family comes with mountains of responsibility and very little time for focusing on a career. However, that doesn’t mean you need to be out of work while raising a family. There are plenty of flexible jobs that will fit around your busy schedule as a parent, especially considering the increase in remote opportunities.

Throughout this article, we’ll discuss six jobs perfectly suited to parenthood.

Table of Contents

Toggle
  • 1. Teacher Assistant
  • 2. Delivery Driver
  • 3. Fostering
  • 4. Graphic Designer
  • 5. Retail and Sales
  • 6. Personal Trainer

1. Teacher Assistant

If your children are in school, what better way is there to fit their schedule than becoming a teaching assistant? You can work in the same school as your children, which blends perfectly with the school run. Your job will be to support the teacher in delivering lessons and most likely providing 1:1 support. There are no formal qualifications involved in being a teacher assistant, but you will need to complete a DBS check, which assesses any criminal background a person may have.

2. Delivery Driver

Whether it’s groceries, online goods, or postal services, there’s an endless stream of items that need delivering. Many delivery drivers work to a flexible schedule, especially if they start working for the likes of Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

3. Fostering

If you’ve got the capacity to open your home to a vulnerable child, you should consider fostering. After all, you’re already a parent, so it will blend naturally with your existing duties. However, if you’re introducing a foster child into your home, you need to understand how to introduce new arrivals to your children. If you need more information or wish to apply, visit fcascotland.co.uk.

4. Graphic Designer

Graphic design is for the creatives out there. Your job will be to create digital content including logos and web content. The benefit of becoming a graphic designer is that it will likely be a freelance position, meaning you can complete work on your schedule – as long as you meet deadlines. Further, you will work from home and won’t have to compromise your parenting responsibilities.

5. Retail and Sales

Becoming a retail assistant is a great job to mix with family life. After all, there are plenty of shops and they need staff to cover all opening hours. These days, you can even work remotely in telesales, as long as you’ve got a quiet office space, a stable internet connection, and a suitable laptop or desktop.

6. Personal Trainer

If you’re successfully squeezing in your workouts and you’ve got plenty of experience, why not turn this energy into a job by becoming a personal trainer? You can do this by attaching yourself to a gym or reaching out to friends and starting your own business. If you’ve only got availability during school hours, target fellow parents as your ideal clientele.

Parenthood zaps up a considerable amount of time, especially if your children aren’t in school. However, there are plenty of viable industries out there to complement your busy lifestyle. With the ability to work remotely, you can open the door to practically any job you’d like – you just need to know where to hunt.
