If you are a gamer and into multiplayer titles, you will have faced cheating at least once in your life. It is a tradition as old as gaming itself. No matter how many fail-safes and countermeasures makers deploy, there will always be one clever dodger with a plan. The most recent victim to fall prey to this is Apex Legends. Many players have encountered cheaters who nearly broke the game with their methods and are now pleading with the developer Respawn to take action against them. Apparently, the problem is a bit more serious than simply making oneself immortal.
Strange New Cheats
It is a hard truth that during the course of the multiplayer game’s life, hackers will plague it at least once. It is the turn of Apex Legends. The hackers in this case have started using some extremely intrusive cheats. These cause either other players to constantly reload their guns or items to fall out of their inventory. Plenty of video evidence of the acts has emerged among online forums. Players are simply fed up with these acts of sabotage. The cheating epidemic seems to have no end in sight and players have taken their complaints up with Respawn.
One of the most notable videos regarding this surfaced on the Apex Legends subreddit. Someone posted a video showcasing a Wraith player who kept using one hack after the other to eventually win the game. The player kept throwing grenades at other players which instantly exploded on impact. He also employed a cheat that robbed his opponents of their ammo mid-game and forced them to take cover and reload. Furthermore, this person had an aimbot to help him target players automatically. Needless to say, such hacks overpowered the plater and resulted in him beating everyone else in no time.
An Online Epidemic
The writer of the post said that these were the most intrusive cheats they had ever seen in Apex Legends. General consensus is that there should be a hardware ban for these hackers. For those who don’t know what a hardware ban is, it entails a severe penalty where aspects of one’s gaming PC are used to track and monitor their gaming activity. The motherboard or the internet router can be watched closely and once the determine the crime, the player is banned permanently. No matter what they do after that, they will never be accepted back into the fold.
Most members of the Apex Legends community believe that the players in question must receive such a harsh punishment. They are bombarding the forums with screenshots and videos of their frustrating experiences with these hackers. One spoke about how he was in a game where everybody kept constantly reloading and they could not simply outdo the hack. It was simply game-breaking.
The fact that these hacks can even make it to the game doesn’t say much about its servers. The security is something of a joke. Until Respawn can address these critical issues soon and redress players, it’s heading toward a shadowy future.
