1. Heavy Drinking

If you’re wondering what causes liver damage, then you should think twice before drinking an alcoholic beverage. While drinking alcohol in moderation can be fine, too much alcohol can damage your liver with a domino effect of health issues. People addicted to alcohol tend to get what is known as alcoholic fatty liver. Liver damage from drinking can lead to inflammation, scarring, and even cancer. Liver damage symptoms include jaundice, abdominal pain, dark urine, itchy skin, and more.

2. Bad Genes

Unfortunately, we don’t have a say in the kinds of genes we receive from our parents and beyond. If your family has a history of liver disease, then you might be at high risk. The best way to prevent the occurrence of liver disease is by living as healthy a life as possible. You can protect your liver by eating well, moderating consumption of alcohol, and working out.

3. Obesity

Obesity comes with a bunch of life-threatening health issues, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Like alcoholic fatty liver, this condition can lead to scarring and liver cancer. Eating a healthy diet is the best way to combat obesity, but it’s also important to exercise on a regular basis.

4. An Overdose of Medicine

Tylenol liver damage is something you should be wary of if you take that non-prescription drug. An overdose of Tylenol can destroy your liver. However, even a normal dose can do damage if you consume it with alcohol. Aside from non-prescription drugs, even so-called ‘natural’ supplements can pose a danger to the health of your liver. Taking multiple supplements or too much of one supplement can cause temporary or permanent liver damage. This is why it’s important to consult a medical professional beforehand.

5. Overexposure to Toxins

One of the most amazing functions of your liver is detoxification. However, your liver can only do so much. If you expose yourself to an abundance of toxins, this could damage your liver beyond repair. Be mindful when you use chemical-based cleaning products, pesticides, and more. It’s also a good idea to wash fruits and vegetables before eating them.

If all this talk of liver damage has you worried, then you should read about the benefits of N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), which can keep your liver healthy.

Now You Can Protect Yourself From Liver Damage

Now that you’ve learned all about the causes of liver damage, you can make sure that your liver is as healthy as can be. Do you want to learn more expert information related to health, fitness, beauty, and more? Stay in the loop by bookmarking our site.
