TikTok’s new Photo Mode appears to be significantly influenced by TikTok’s major competitor, Instagram. You’ll learn about the features of TikTok’s Photo Mode and how to use it in this section.
The TikTok app’s For You tab has been completely redesigned in the current edition (FYP). You’ve seen photo galleries in the shape of carousels or slideshows, similar to the ones in Instagram’s Explore section.
As a result of this move, TikTok, which was previously focused on short-form video, may take a different course. People will be able to enjoy still photographs in addition to TikTok videos.
How does TikTok’s new Photo Mode work?
TikTok announced a new Photo Mode in a blog post on Thursday, October 6, 2022. Users may now mix numerous photographs, text of up to 2,200 characters, and audio into a single TikTok post using the new format.
According to the app, Photo Mode is a new mobile carousel layout for photo content that is excellent for sharing high-quality images on TikTok. “We designed this mode for occasions when you’d want to express yourself in media other than video,” TikTok explained.
This mode lets your followers browse any slideshows or carousels you’ve uploaded at their leisure. The “For You” area contains short films and blog pieces.

What does TikTok’s Photo Mode serve?
This mode is extremely similar to Instagram’s in terms of functionality. Before integrating Reels to compete with TikTok, Meta’s Instagram was simply a photo-sharing software that allowed users to send and receive images.
TikTok has followed in the footsteps of Instagram by including a photo-swapping feature in the shape of a carousel, which has startled many users. TikTok will no longer be only a video-centric platform with the addition of this new mode.
However, TikTok users are already using this mode to share slideshows from several sectors, including visual arts, fashion, photography, and storytelling.
TikTok Photo Uploading and Sharing Tips
If you’ve been using social media for any time, you’re undoubtedly already familiar with the new Photo Mode. To use the new feature, you must use the most recent version of the TikTok app.
To make a new video, open the TikTok app and press the + sign. Select the images to share from your gallery or camera roll. TikTok will then have the option to “Switch to Photo Mode.” Choose it.
Photos can be modified using the supplied filters, stickers, and audio editing tools. After you’ve completed your slideshow, you may share it with your followers and other TikTok users (if you have a public account).
Is this mode available to all users?

Photo Mode was made available to TikTok users on Thursday, first in the United States and subsequently globally. For the time being, it is only accessible via the TikTok applications for Android and iOS. The website does not yet have this feature. However, there is still a link to the FYP posts on the website.
So what if your smartphone doesn’t yet support Photo Mode? Check the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store to see if a new version of TikTok is available. Uninstall the app if an update is not available.
Turn off your mobile device and then on again after a few seconds. Then, go to the App Store and download TikTok. The new photo-focused mode is now available.
TikTok hasn’t been shy about introducing new features this quarter. TikTok Now was created in response to the success of the app BeReal. The site now features more extensive editing options and an increase in the number of captions you can add.
