The Korean studio Shift Up unveiled a hack-and-slash action-adventure game called Stellar Blade during the 2001 PlayStation Showcase. Project Eve was the name given to the title initially, but in 2022, it was changed to Stellar. Before this, the game had been speculated about but not officially verified.
Despite having many parallels to games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, the style of the game is also reminiscent of Souls games, particularly Soulslikes like Code Vein. In contrast to the painstaking duels of the Souls series, the action appears to be much more frenzied.
Here is every piece of information we have on this upcoming action game.
When be will Stellar Blade Out?
Stellar Blade’s release date has yet to be announced because the trailer provided no information. We are currently not sure when Stellar Blade will get released.
What Platforms will Stellar Blade Run on?
Although it was initially announced for Xbox platforms and PC, the game has now been confirmed as a PS5 exclusive.
According to the developers, Stellar Blade would “take full advantage” of the haptic feedback provided by DualSense controllers and the PS5’s graphical capabilities.
A Glimpse of Stellar Trailer
The original Stellar Blade (Project Eve) trailer included so much information that we had to watch it more than once to understand it fully. The game initially had the appearance of being something Platinum Games would create. Yet we discovered DNA traces from various franchises and genres when we looked more closely.
The trailer showcased some stunning settings and action-packed battle scenes as Eve fought mutant opponents called NA:tives that resembled zombies. Of which many would fit in with a recent Final Fantasy game.
Know About Gameplay and Style
Even though the gameplay was similar to Capcom’s series, the art style was noticeably different. The protagonist, Eve, did remind us of Bayonetta. A more photorealistic, if not slightly anime, design is what Stellar Blade is going for. Nonetheless, it’s a world away from Bayonetta’s too-fashionable style.
At other points in the trailer, Stellar Blade is also channeling the Souls games, or at the very least, the games they influenced, such as Code Vein and Bloodborne by From Software. Instead of being a mindless hack-and-slasher, the game depends on when you strike.
Character and Plot Information
Eve lives in a post-apocalyptic world where monsters from another planet seem to be forming a ring around space stations. According to the trailer, Eve moves the subway but frequently has to protect herself from encroaching NA:tives.
Moreover, Eve seems to be receiving instructions from someone, suggesting a larger group of people.
So that’s all we currently know about Stellar Blade.
