Jodi Arias is an American woman. She was sentenced to first-degree murder in the slaying of ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in Arizona, USA, on June 4, 2008. The couple had a wild relationship between them. Jodi was born in California in 1980 and raised in a small town in northern California. She met Tavis Alexander in 2006. They came into a relationship but it lasted for one year.
Who was Jodi Arias and what did she do?
Jodi Ann Arias was born in Salinas, California, on July 9, 1980. She lived with her parents William Arias and Sandra Arias. Jodi was a high school dropout, although she completed her GED degree before moving to other places.
However, in September 2006, Jodi Arias first met Travis. She later began a long-distance romantic relationship, and soon became his girlfriend. Jodi was 26 years old, while Travis was 29 years old at the time. Initially, the relationship between Jodi and Travis seemed perfect.
However, everything soon worsened for the pair when Jodi began obsessing over Travis. Five months into their relationship, the two broke up. Also, they continued to see each other and even engaged in sexual activities with each other often.
On June 4, 2008, Jodi ended up brutally murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis in his Mesa apartment. She reportedly stabbed him 27 times collectively. She slit his throat, and shot him with a .25 calibre in the head, cutting Travis’ life short.

Later on, a month after the murder, authorities pinned her as the murderer of Travis Alexander. He was 30 years of age at the time of his death. On July 15, 2008, authorities arrested Arias on charges of first-degree murder of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.
On May 8, 2013, Jodi was convicted and on April 13, 2015. The court sentenced her to life behind bars by the court, without the possibility of parole. So, Jodi Arias is currently serving her jail sentence at the Arizona Department of Corrections. She is serving at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Perryville.
What happened to Jodi Arias?
Though Arias’ defence claimed that she had killed her former boyfriend, Alexander. In self-defence, a jury convicted Arias of first-degree murder. Arias was up for the death penalty But after two mistrials, a judge sentenced Arias to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
However, in October 2017, Arias filed an appeal for her conviction, but it was delayed due to systematic errors. Then in October 2019, Arias tried to appeal again, this time citing “cumulative misconduct” by prosecutor Juan Martinez. Ultimately, the appeal was denied.
The court charged Martinez in July 2020 in light of allegations that he had leaked information to a member of the media. So he was having an affair with, communicated with a dismissed juror and engaged in sexual misconduct.

The murder trial involving Jodi Arias wasn’t over but that could not stop Lifetime from developing a movie about the scandal.
Lifetime has made two movies about this notorious woman. One premiered in 2013, Jodi Arias -‘ Dirty Little Secret. Another one they launched in 2023 -“Bad Behind The Bar- Jodi Arias”. It shows the life of Jodi in a cell with her cellmates. Untouchable and The Craziest Killer are working on the movie about the woman who claims she killed her boyfriend in self-defence, reports TV Guide.
