6 Side Effects of taking too much Vitamin D

As Vitamin D is a requirement for the body some people decide to take Vitamin D pills to get it. But sometimes the long term use of such pills without the right prescription can lead to an excess of Vitamin D in the body. It can lead to serious effects. Here are some of the side effects of taking too much Vitamin D. Read the following points below and check if you are having any such side effects. If you are then immediately consult a doctor.

1. Kidney damage

A lot of calcium in the bloodstream can lead to the formation of phosphate which can create crystals that settle in body tissues. These crystals can damage the body according to their growth. The organ Kidney is very vulnerable to the crystals as all of it gets deposited in the filters and other areas in the kidney. If the condition becomes severe then kidney failure may occur. Some of the symptoms that show if the Kidney gets damaged are nausea, vomiting, pain in the stomach, chills, and fever.

2. Pain in the bones

If calcium is circulating all around the body, then the body may not get the right amount of hormones to bind the minerals. So the Vitamin D toxicity can lead to hypercalcemia and this can damage the bones. Some of the symptoms of this condition are ache in the bones, instability, pain in the joints, loss of height and more.

3. Dehydration

More levels of Vitamin D can lessen the ability of the Kidney to concentrate urine. So because of this people can pass more amount of urine. When a person passes a lot of urine they lose more water from the body. Therefore, this causes dehydration. Some of the symptoms are dry mouth, irritability, sunken eyes, restlessness and more. Therefore, if you are suffering from these symptoms consult with a doctor and take necessary steps to get rid of the problem before it gets big.

4. Hypercalcemia

This is one of the conditions that the body may suffer when it has a lot of Vitamin D. Also, this term defines the issue of lot of calcium in the blood. Some of the symptoms of this condition are constipation, muscle pain, irregular heartbeat, metallic taste in the mouth, fewer reflexes, weakness in the muscles and more.

5. Irregular heartbeat

Extreme cases of Hypercalcemia can disrupt the function of the heart. The plaques of calcium can get deposited in the valves and arteries. So this can create complications in the heart. Some of the symptoms are high blood pressure, dizziness, chest pain, dizziness and more.

6. Pancreatitis

The excess of vitamin D can also affect the pancreas. Some of the symptoms of this condition are weight loss, upper stomach pain, fast impulses, fever, vomiting, nausea and more.
