Since March 2020, when the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, people have suffered. The last months have been full of separation, anxiety, loss, and uncertainty. Because of this, mental health doctors are worried about the unavoidable effects that the pandemic will have on people. 1. Increase In Drinking and Use of Substance
To look for ways to cope during this pandemic, many people turn to substance and alcohol abuse. Taking a glass of wine or a cold beer is ok since it has been associated with stress relief, and most people are stressed right now.
However, over drinking alcohol or drugs can be associated with PTSD and trauma, particularly if it disrupts your life. If you find that your alcohol use interferes with your ability to do your daily activities, then you need to look for help from mental experts. 2. Feeling on Guard Or Unsafe
Every person is worried about health and safety during this time. Therefore, if you have had post-trauma stress disorder before, these concerns may be frequent and more intense than others. You will find that you do not want to associate with other people or that you are extremely worried about getting the virus.
Those places that felt safe before the outbreak may now make you feel anxious. You may find that you are avoiding being in open places. You may also feel more irritated than usual with anything, even things unrelated to covid-19.

3. Engaging in Risky Behavior
It is important to watch for any changes in people’s behavior during the pandemic. Participating in risky behavior is a red flag. You may sometimes notice that a friend or family member may have a dangerous and destructive behavior after a trauma. You should be more concerned if these behaviors threaten life or relationships.
For instance, a person may engage in risky sexual or dangerous driving behaviors or they may withdrawal from socializing with loved ones. These two things are not associated with trauma, but they are warning signs.
4. More Negative Feelings And Thoughts
During this pandemic, you may have a lot of negative thoughts, especially thoughts associated with COVID-19. For instance, you may find it difficult to trust other people to do the right thing or feel that you have no control over anything. Such thoughts and feelings may make you angry and irritable, especially if it is not possible to do things that make you feel better.
These are some of the symptoms of post-trauma stress disorder linked to the coronavirus pandemic. If you have such signs, ensure that you talk to mental health professionals for assistance.
