Julianna Margulies expressed in an open letter that she hopes her non-Jewish friends will understand the Jewish experience amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. She mentioned that only two of her many non-Jewish friends reached out to her after the tragedy in Israel, where more than 1,200 Jews were killed.
Margulies specifically referred to the actions of the group Hamas as a “TERRORIST group.” She expressed hope that the world population will take heed. Especially those who claim to support Israel and other Jews. Let us delve deeper into the matter at hand.
The actress also went on to criticize a lot of people. She said that the world had learnt a lot of compassion since ancient times. And that the Holocaust ought to have taught people some things about not speaking up. Julianna holds herself to be a champion of human rights.
She is one of the best when it comes to this. And she will continue to uphold the rights of people as long as she lives. It is a noble cause. In addition to this, she asked people to condemn the cowardly attacks of Hamas on Israeli citizens as well.
Julianna says,
“So maybe you can get why we feel scared when there’s silence. We worry: Who will protect us if they come for us? We ask ourselves: Where can we go if we need to run away? I know it sounds intense, but we genuinely wonder about these things urgently. The traumas of the Holocaust haunt us. We were taught ‘never to forget.”
Recently, she saw friends, colleagues, and many people she knew and loved at a reading of her short stories. She was surprised to see that no one seemed to carry the weight of what happened in Israel—a weight that’s heavy on every Jewish person she knows.
