Well, now that sounds like Bill Gates, right? Do you know Microsoft’s co-founder, Bill Gates, has recently purchased a super luxury yacht for a whopping Rs 4,600 crores that runs on liquid hydrogen? This is something that we can call a super luxury thing, proving him correct as the world’s third-richest man. Another interesting thing about Gates is that he is a regular superyacht holidaymaker but has not previously owned any luxury yacht, and he used to rent these during his summer trips.
He revealed his plans to buy the superyacht at the Monaco Yacht Show last year in December, and arguably this is one of the first of its kind superyachts powered by liquid hydrogen.

Who has designed this ‘Aqua’?
Bill Gates is the first person to buy such a luxurious thing. No one has purchased something like this before by anyone. The super luxury yacht has been designed by the Dutch design firm Sinot and costs $644 million, i.e., Rs. 4,600 crores only.
What are its specialties?
According to the report of the Daily Mail, this superyacht is a 376-foot-long liner that can accommodate 14 guests and 31 crew members. It has five decks, an infinity pool, a helipad, a spa, a yoga studio, a beauty room, a massage parlor, and a gym. Now, what more can you ask for? Do you know what the most interesting feature is? It’s the use of alternative fuels that makes this ship carbon-emission-free.
Have a look at what designer Sander Sinot has said: “With every project, I challenge my team and myself to surpass ourselves. For the development of AQUA, we took inspiration from the lifestyle of a discerning, forward-looking owner; the fluid versatility of water; and cutting-edge technology to combine this in a 376-foot superyacht with a fully operational liquid hydrogen and fuel cell system that features groundbreaking technology as well as design and aesthetics.”

It operates wholly on liquid hydrogen and no electricity
The best part about this yacht is that it does not use electricity, as it runs on liquid hydrogen. No electricity is used to power the motors and propellers of the yacht. The ship also has the potential to cover the distance between London and New York without any need to refuel. Amazing it is. It is also expected to make its debut in 2024 and have diesel backup.
